How to Create an Above Ground Organic Vegetable Garden

I have been into gardening ever since I can remember, my first garden was an above ground organic vegetable garden since I lived in an apartment and didn't have the option of planting in my yard. I have had the pleasure of experiences a massive outdoor garden and let me tell you they are wonderful, but take a lot of time and work! Since then, I have reverted back to an above ground garden due to the fact that I now have 2 small children and a large puppy who destroy all my chances of maintaining and having a successful outdoor garden! I have perfected step by step directions on how to create an above ground organic vegetable garden! Now you and I both can grown our own delicious and healthy vegetables!

1. First things first, you are going to need some large storage containers or large pots. A lot of nurseries will give away the old empty ones. Once you have obtained your bins drill some holes in the bottom to make sure you will have to proper amount of drainage!

2. I always place some medium to large stones in the bottom of my bins about 1 inch deep maybe a little more then fill the rest of the unit with organic soil. Make sure plants are established before adding your fertilizer. Just keep in mind that Miracle Grow is not organic, there are other options, I have found several at Lowes!

3. Next personalize your garden. Pick seeds or purchase your choice of vegetable plants that will suit you and your families needs! Most plants to best with watering regularly, so get your self into a routine! Remember be consistent early morning is usually best so keep that in mind.

Hot tip...

If you live in a hot area (which I do) I recommend using some sort of a garden shade or create a screen to place over the top of your veggies to avoid them from getting scorched from the sun or sustain some wind damage!

Remember to never spray household pesticides on the ground near where your bins are located, it will absorb upward into the soil!

I hope that this has informed you on how to create an above ground organic vegetable garden and will be put to great use! Its so much fun to see your veggies begin growing, and not to mention have your own veggies at your fingertips!
